This is an experiment...

I like to write. That may seem like an odd statement to make, but when I say it I mean much more than just "I like to write." What I should probably say is, "I want to write." For the past few years, I have begun to feel the urge to write professionally.

That is easier said than done. I wrote a novel two years ago. It was bad. I'm still working on it, but in the meantime I thought I might try an experiment: the first blook. I may have to come up with a better name, but the premise is this: I am writing a book through the use of a blog.

This blog.

Each post I make will hopefully connect with the previous post the same way reading the chapters of a book would. Now, that being said, I'm not going to try and write a whole chapter in one post. Instead, I will try to break it down into much more manageable sections.

This experiment is based on an idea for a book I had several years ago. I have always been disappointed in what I have termed Popular Christian Culture (the books, movies, t-shirts, and whatever else you can find for sale at your local Lifeway Christian Store). In fact, I think it is the dark side of Christianity, something nobody really likes but fears speaking out against simply because it bears the label "Christian." Through the analysis of a few examples, as well as a look at what the Bible has to say ( . . . and trust me, it has something to say), I hope to point out the danger behind the current Popular Christian Culture and promote the growth of a culture with Christianity that is both good and honoring to God.

Thanks for taking the time to join me in this experiment, and I would love to hear any suggestions you may have for the future of this blook! (Okay, I do need to come up with a new name . . . )
